After last year’s successful Day of Anthropology with the title ‘Understanding migrations’, is this year’s theme ‘Solidarity’.
Solidarity is one of the biggest challenges in the present time. A new and diverse set of national populations has been created as a result of (recent) flows of people, goods and ideas. Amongst these populations a certain amount of interconnectness seems to encompass the world. At the same time inequality increased as a result of neoliberal reforms both globally as within specific societies. If we add climate change and scarcity of natural resources to that, the world seems to be in a critical condition. This all raises questions of mutual solidarity; how do people connect to each other in times of crisis?
On the Day of Anthropology 2017 you can expect multiple views on this issue in our panel discussions, lectures and workshops in which you are all encouraged to participate.
